Unidentified Foreigner In Failed Suicide Bid

PATTAYA: An unidentified foreign man was taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning following a failed attempt to take his own life by drowning.

Just after 3am, a Russian man seen the suicidal foreigner in the sea just opposite the Hard Rock Hotel on Pattaya’s Beach Road. He rushed into the water to rescue the drowning man and dragged his body on to the beach. The good Samaritan was soon joined by emergency services who had been alerted to the incident by a bystander.

The 50-year-old Russian tourist said he suicidal foreigner was unconscious when he pulled him out the water. A woman who had seen the man before he went into the sea told police he looked in “despair” and was underwater for around three minutes before the Russian man came to the rescue.

After being resuscitated at the scene, the unidentified man was then taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Officers said the man is aged around 50-60 years and they would wait until he had recovered to question him.
