The BTS and MRT will be enforcing strict rules for Songkran revelers with passengers having to dry off, wipe away powder, and empty water guns before passing through the ticket barriers. Those who don’t will not be allowed to use either network.

In addition to party goers having to clean themselves up, those showing drunken behavior will be banned from using the trains and a strict no alcohol policy will be enforced.

Towels will be provided for people to dry themselves and wipe away powder before they enter the stations proper. The operators say this is to avoid other passengers being disturbed.

Additional services are scheduled will both systems running to full capacity over the coining week.

It was also announced that additional security officers will be deployed at stations around the clock with further extra security measures in force at Hua Lampong, Silom, Sukhumvit, Chatuchak, Kamphaeng Phet, and Bang Sue as these stations are linked to other mass transport systems.
